Scribblers Festival
The Scribbler’s Festival was an event held at the Perth Town Hall on 25 October. Students in Year 6 from the Meadow Springs and Halls Head Campuses were chosen to go to this event. The day started off with some activities involving Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. After that we did a workshop with Millennium Kids.
Then it was time for our first Guest Speaker, Gavin Aung Than. Gavin is a cartoonist and created the 'Super Sidekicks' series, and recently released the popular picture book, 'Baa Baa Black Belt'.
After a short break, our other guest speaker, Lev Grossman, told us about his book, 'The Silver Arrow'. Lev gave us a brief rundown of the book and informed us of the second book in the series, 'The Golden Swift'.
We had the chance to get books signed by Lev or Gavin and ask questions. It was a great day, not only did we find out about the authors and their books, but we got given some tips on how to write a good book. Thanks to Mrs McRae for organising the excursion and to Mrs Baker and Mrs Anastazjew for accompanying us to the event on the day.
