NAIDOC Week 2022 at Frederick Irwin

School News Wednesday, 03 Aug 2022

NAIDOC Week this year was celebrated throughout the School, from Kindergarten to Year 12, at both our Halls Head and Meadow Springs campuses.

On the first day back of Term 3, Sean Hill (Class of 2017) presented a Welcome to Country, followed by a performance by the Wadumbah Dance Group, to secondary students at our NAIDOC Week Secondary Assembly.

Throughout the week, other activities, events, lessons and celebrations included reading of Aboriginal stories, creating artwork based on Indigenous poems, listening to livestreams of Aboriginal history and stories, learning more about the Uluru Statement of the Heart, putting together NAIDOC themed puzzles, singing Aboriginal songs, creating interpretive drama plays based on Aboriginal literature, participating in nature-based storytelling and art works.

Please enjoy this short video which captures just some of the NAIDOC Week events that occurred at Frederick Irwin Anglican School.

We look forward to sharing even more of the experiences from this Week in following posts!
