Dear Parents and Carers

Community
On Wednesday 27 March we celebrated Founders’ Day. It is such a wonderful community event and I am so glad that so many families came to support the day. We had a lovely lunch at 12.00pm and it was a great opportunity for families to come and share in the atmosphere. It’s also a lovely opportunity for both the Meadow Springs and Halls Head campus to make connections. I enjoyed seeing everyone and know the students had so much fun.

Parking

I wanted to inform our community that we are aware of the pressures of parking and using Kiss and Drop, and are regularly discussing how we believe that we can improve the congestion. One element that would assist the Kiss and Drop is having parents make a loop of Kiss and Drop if their child is not ready at the shelter. Although I realise it is frustrating to have to do a loop, this will help the Kiss and Drop flow more fluidly. The Kiss and Drop is also almost empty at 3.25pm, so staggering your arrival time at the school may be helpful as well.

Could I please ask that parents not use the staff car park. Although parking and congestion is frustrating it puts an immense pressure on staff being prepared and ready for the School day, when staff parking is taken up by the community. I also wanted to give a friendly reminder that Funarama families must use the parent carpark, as there are no longer drop off bays in the staff car park.

Smart Devices

The use of smart devices in students' daily lives is becoming more frequent. Could I please ask that all families ensure that their children understand that phones are not to be used during the school day and that smart watches must be switched to airplane mode while at school. The use of these devices to contact parents should only be used after school. These devices can be very distracting to students and we want to ensure that our students are focussed on their learning.

Act Belong Commit

Mrs Madison Champ and Mrs Kerri-Lee Randall are doing a fantastic job in making sure our Physical Education and Health programmes are engaging and positive. They are so passionate about supporting our students and have introduced a system in which we recognise students demonstrating our Core Values in action on the Sporting field. Mrs Champ and Mrs Randall are eager to meet our parents and I encourage our families to stop and have a chat with Mrs Champ and Mrs Randall when possible. Both Madison and Kerri-Lee are very approachable and are passionate about giving your students positive experiences.
