Head of Primary - Halls Head (Issue 16, 2023)

Newsletter - Executive Monday, 20 Nov 2023

Dear Parents and Carers

Term 4 is always busy and exciting, and it is hard to believe that we are already nearing the end of the school year! There is a real buzz of excitement at Halls Head campus with the announcement that the development of our campus will commence in 2024, with a new Early Years Centre and Administration. We will be commencing a second stream of Kindergarten in 2024 and plan to grow our wonderful campus slowly to double stream from Kindergarten to Year 6 over the next eight years.

Our engagement with the Act, Belong, Commit initiative continues to be strong. In Week 6, our Year 4s participated in the Red Ball Tennis event and our Year 5 and 6 students in the Inter-School Cricket and Lawn Bowls Competition. Next week our Year 3-6 Choir will be singing for the residents of Halls Head Aged Care Mercy Place, and on Tuesday 5 December they will perform at the Halls Head Shopping Centre. This year, Frederick Irwin Anglican School will also have a float at the City of Mandurah Christmas Pageant on Friday 1 December.

We continue to prioritise student well-being at Frederick Irwin. The Friendly Schools Programme focuses on building self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and decision-making skills. I have been running weekly Rock and Water sessions with our Year 5 students. This programme involves a series of activities to develop confidence and self-reflection. It is a privilege to be able to make a difference in the lives of young people in our care by helping them develop these important skills.

Kind regards and best wishes
Sue Kirke
