Curtin UniReady in Schools – Your Pathway to University
Frederick Irwin Anglican School is proud to offer the Curtin UniReady in Schools program, an exceptional opportunity for our Year 12 students to gain direct entry into university while completing their WACE.
Why Choose UniReady in Schools?
The Curtin UniReady in Schools program is an academic bridging course designed to develop the skills and knowledge required for university success. This program is ideal for students who will not achieve the ATAR required for direct university entry, chose a General/VET pathway, or want to strengthen their independent learning and academic abilities. By successfully completing four units—core and optional units—students achieve Curtin’s minimum admission criteria, including a notional ATAR of 70, making them eligible for entry into a wide range of Curtin University and other University courses. The program equips students with vital skills in academic literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, research, referencing, and communication, ensuring they are well-prepared for university expectations. UniReady offers a supportive and structured learning environment, allowing students to transition smoothly from high school to tertiary education. Being an approved Endorsed Program students gain 4 WACE points upon successful completion of the program.
Students are allowed to choose a maximum of 2 ATAR Courses of Study in conjunction to enrolling in the Curtin UniReady in Schools Program.
Prerequisites for Enrolment
- Successfully pass 1 ATAR subject in Year 11
- Achieved all components of OLNA
- Minimum “A” grade in Maths Essentials General – Year 11
- Minimum “A” grade in English General – Year 11
Program Structure
Students at Frederick Irwin Anglican School must complete four units – three core units and one optional unit – to successfully complete the program.
Core Units (Compulsory for all students):
- Fundamentals of Academic Writing (PWRP0001) – Develop essential writing, referencing, and research skills
- Foundations of Communication (COMS0002) – Enhance verbal and written communication, including email etiquette and online discussions
- Applying Mathematics (MATH0003) – Strengthen numeracy skills essential for university study
Optional Units (Choose one):
- Introduction to Commerce (MGMT0001) – Gain foundational knowledge in business and economics
- Introduction to Health Sciences (BIOL0001) – Explore health-related disciplines and scientific communication
