Testimonial

I would like to give a long overdue but shout out to the Phys Ed faculty at Freddies.

I have two children (one now graduated) who both love their sports. The time and effort the Phys Ed staff put into facilitating their engagement in sports inside and outside of school is to be commended.

My children’s engagement in sports is vital to their school experience and wellbeing. Without the opportunity to compete and engage in sports, neither of them would enjoy their school experience half as much, and I fear their academic achievements would suffer.

Both of my children have been fortunate enough to be selected to represent the school in various sporting competitions, and in doing so, we have had the pleasure of getting to know the Phys Ed staff well. I have nothing but the highest praise for all the faculty as teachers, coaches, and mentors.

Thanks to Mrs Booker for her tireless work organising the Basketball and Netball comps, both of which are run amazingly well and have been thoroughly enjoyed by my children.

I also would like to say thank you to Mrs Mullenax for coaching the girls in the ACC Basketball competition this year. In my opinion, and those of many of the parents I spoke to at games, the girls were very fortunate to be coached by someone of her calibre. I would like to mention that I attended the game at All Saints and was sitting right next to the bench. Given they were missing some of their key senior players, the girls played an amazing and competitive game, thanks largely to Mrs Mullenax’s coaching. I heard her giving encouragement, praise, and appropriate feedback to the girls throughout the game. I left feeling positive and glad that my daughter was getting the opportunity to develop her skills under Mrs Mullenax’s tutelage.

In my opinion, the Phys Ed faculty go above and beyond to organise and coach teams both at school, and outside. This is a huge commitment, must take up considerable time and take them away from their own families. I just want you to know that most parents recognise this and are extremely grateful. I would hate to think that the negative opinions of the minority would have you questioning your dedication and commitment to your students.

At past assemblies, I have heard Mrs Gray use her cake making metaphors when talking about what makes a student successful. I honestly believe the Phys Ed faculty is one of the most important ingredients in my children’s success and enjoyment at Freddies.

So, thank you all for the amazing work you do and your continued dedication your students.
