Years 11 and 12 Christian Studies Incursion - Destiny Rescue

Secondary Subjects and Electives Monday, 23 May 2022

As part of the Christian Studies curriculum, Years 11 and 12 students attended a presentation by Darren Reynolds from Destiny Rescue.

Confronting and challenging, this Incursion was to highlight the importance of charity work, and the need for acts of courage as part of our faith journey.

In 2006, Tony Kirwan, as a young electrician from Queensland, was on holiday with his family in Thailand and noticed the age of the modern-day slaves. Many were the same age as his own children. He immediately set out to find a way to rescue these children and, in doing so, set up Destiny Rescue.

Today, Destiny Rescue operates around the world, and rescues and rehabilitates around 2500 children and young people each year. This dangerous work relies on the support of law enforcement agencies in the countries concerned, and also on the charitable support of Australians.
