Operation Christmas Child 2022 - From Mrs Sue Kirke, Deputy Head of Primary at the Halls Head Campus

Anglican Identity Monday, 03 Oct 2022

As part of our charity giving this year, the Primary classes on both Campuses will be putting together Christmas Shoe Boxes for children living in poverty. This is organised by the Samaritans Purse International Relief. Visit the website here

This is a voluntary project which gives the children the opportunity for a real-life experience of collaborative working to make a difference in the lives of children less fortunate than themselves. “An Operation Christmas Child shoebox is more than a gift … it opens up a world of life-changing opportunities for the child, their family and their community.”

We will be issuing the empty Christmas Shoe Boxes to any families who would be happy to fill a box for a child, with each of the six items you can donate. Filled boxes can then be returned to the School for posting. Each box is organised on the basis of gender and age: 2-4, 5-9, 10-14 years and you are free to choose the age and gender for the child to whom your box will go, just by ticking your chosen category on the label provided on the box.

If you would prefer to just provide one or two items, rather than fill a complete box, your donations would be gratefully received. Our Year 6 students will then put them together to fill some more boxes.

If you are able to help with this very worthwhile Operation Christmas Child appeal, please return your completed shoe box or donations to Primary Reception as soon as possible, ready for posting at the start of Term 4.

Each box costs $10.00 to process and ship to the children overseas. We will be using some of the money raised from Non-Uniform Days to assist with payment of this; however, if you are able to also provide the money to cover the shipping cost for your box, it would be much appreciated.
