Year 9 student James Mouton recently represented Western Australia at the Sport Climbing Australia 2023 Youth Championships which was held in Sydney. Over 400 climbers participated over the four days.
Competition was fierce in the Youth B (14-15 year old) male division, with James narrowly missing out on a finals spot, topping 5 of the 6 Boulder problems, with a ranking of ninth in Australia.
In the Lead competition, the over-15m high walls was a daunting prospect. James finished a respectable 21st in the Youth B male division giving him an overall ranking of 13th in Australia.
Being his first year in the Youth B (14-15 year old) male division, this was a great learning curve and sets him up well for 2024. Congratulations!
