This year, after the Australian Maths Competition results came out, we were contacted by the Australian Mathematics Trust to put forward some of our top students for the Australian Intermediate Mathematics Olympiad.
This was a first for our school – and we didn’t hesitate to multiply our efforts! We registered quickly, ran practice sessions at lunch, and today, 13 of our best and brightest took on the challenge.
This is a four hour competition, that is normally aimed at Year 10 students, but we also put forward some of our top Year 7, 8, and 9s – and they all proved they were really above the line. The problems were tough – you could say they really tested our limits – but the students rose to the occasion.
I am incredibly proud of every single student who took part in this prestigious and challenging competition. For our younger students especially, this was a daunting but rewarding experience that they handled with courage, creativity, and determination.
Congratulations to all who participated—you truly proved that when it comes to mathematics, our students are in a different class altogether!
