Year 9 Careers Taster Day

Secondary Subjects and Electives Tuesday, 16 Jan 2024

On Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 8, Term 4, our Year 9 students undertook a range of Career taster experiences.

Murdoch University presented the students with information and hands-on activities from Chiropractic Science, Biomedical Science, Graphic Design, Global Politics and Policy and Conservation and Wildlife Biology. To finish the day students were taken through the school career website and they commenced their e-portfolios.

On Wednesday students had a presentation from MEGT about apprenticeships and traineeships and then participated in 4 sessions from a wide range of activities. Students got the opportunity to extract strawberry DNA, create an icecream in a bag, decorate a Christmas themed cupcake, create a floral arrangement and find out about the diverse nature of community services. Others opted for cyber security, sports physiology, fighting a virtual fire, earth sciences, delving into the world of forensics, construction, radio broadcasting and even got the chance to be a jockey on a mechanical horse.

Student feedback was excellent and they all appeared to enjoy the days.
