Dear Parents and Carers

Promoting Wellbeing Through the Friendly Schools Social Emotional Programme

As the Primary Student Wellbeing Officer, my role is to support the emotional and social development of our students, ensuring they thrive in a positive and inclusive school environment. I love welcoming students as they arrive at school and checking in during break times. These moments are highlights of my day, as I strive to create a supportive and welcoming atmosphere for all.

An important student wellbeing initiative is our Friendly Schools Social Emotional Learning Programme with lessons based on five key learning areas: Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and social decision-making, with lessons delivered across all year levels. The learning focus of these lessons is instrumental in fostering a supportive environment where students feel safe, valued, and connected. There are Friendly Schools posters prominently displayed at both campuses, reminding everyone of the importance of our positive and inclusive school culture.

Freddies Friends Lunchtime Chillout Club

At both campuses, the Freddies Friends lunchtime chillout club has become a favourite spot for students to relax and engage in various activities. With up to twenty students attending regularly, the club offers a range of options including weaving, crochet, card games, colouring, drawing, and quiet reading. These activities provide a wonderful opportunity for students to unwind, relax, and express their creativity.

At the Halls Head campus, Year 6 leaders have taken on the responsibility of running various activities as part of Freddies Friends club. They have truly shone in their leadership roles, acting as great mentors for the younger students. Their enthusiasm and dedication to running each different station have been inspiring to see.

We are proud of the positive impact these initiatives have had on our school community and look forward to continuing to support our students' well-being and social emotional learning.

Best wishes
