On September 5 2024, St Mary’s Anglican School hosted the IPSHA Speakers Challenge, with 80 talented students from across Perth competing in this prestigious event.

Representing our school, we are incredibly proud of the following participants:

  • Cahill Baker (Year 6) – Speech: Aerophobia
  • Scarlett Kettle (Year 6) – Speech: Being a Teenager
  • Ashleigh Simmons (Year 5) – Speech: Overcoming Failure
  • Ira Pimpale (Year 5) – Speech: My Perspective on AI

In the first heats, Ira and Cahill were awarded bronze medals, Scarlet earned a silver medal, and Ashleigh took home a gold medal. In the final gold medal round, Ashleigh secured a bronze medal for her outstanding performance.

A highlight of the event was watching our students support each other throughout the challenge. The speech topics not only captivated the audience but also sparked engaging conversations and important takeaways for everyone present.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and parents who attended, offering their support and encouragement to these brave and dedicated students. A special mention goes to the students themselves for their commitment and hours of practice – we are immensely proud of your achievements.
