A Message from Deputy Head of Primary - Halls Head Campus

Newsletter - Executive Wednesday, 14 Feb 2024

The first weeks of Term 1 have buzzed by with a flurry of activity. It is always wonderful to see the School bounce back into life as the students return from holidays and settle into their new classes and routines. We are delighted to have welcomed many new families to our School and look forward to getting to know all of you throughout the year.

The school year began with a Welcome Back assembly and family picnic in Week 1, and Parent Information sessions and First Aid Focus training for all students during Week 2. In Week 3 our Student Leaders commenced their duties by leading lunchtime clubs and ensuring the flags are flying on campus. They have already impressed us with their dedication to their roles, innovative ideas and willingness to support one another. Choir has also begun this week, with the wonderful Mrs Woods leading two choir groups because demand was so high! Week 3 continues with an Ash Wednesday Service to mark the beginning of the Season of Lent, and the official Commissioning of our 2024 Captains on Friday. Our Year 5s are off to their Point Walter Camp later this week. A wonderful experience for learning, team building and personal growth. Thank you to Mr O’Shaughnessy and all of the staff who have worked so hard to make the camp happen.

The Noongar Season of Bunuru has well and truly established its presence over the last few days with the temperatures soaring. We have put new outdoor games and books along the Library veranda and also 3 table-tennis tables under the shade sails in the quadrangle, which has helped to encourage students to remain in the shade and still have fun during break times.

This week we have opened our FIAS ‘Little Library’ to families. This is our version of a street library where families can take a book, leave a book and share a love of reading. The Little Library is located outside the Hall, with book swapping before and after school encouraged. If any families would like to make donations of books to this initiative, please bring them into the Admin office for me to add to our rotation collection.

I’d like to express my gratitude to the amazing team of staff we have the privilege of working alongside every day, and thank you to our fabulous families for your positivity and support. We look forward to many more adventures as the term unfolds.

Kind regards

Mrs Nat Burbage
