House Charities

House Charities are central to Frederick Irwin – service at its best is a journey of discovery and awareness, learning about what a community really is and what it means to embrace diversity.

Barrett House decided that we always support ‘people’ as our chosen charity, so this year they would like to support a local community program that takes care of wildlife. Mandurah Just Joey Marsupial Care is a not for profit service that relies on public donations to pay for vet bills and feed for injured or abandoned marsupials.

Barrett House’s favourite fundraising activities:

  • Waffle baskets and hash browns, and the flat bacon & egg waffles.
  • Easter Raffle
  • Making of stands and pouches – Geoff in Design and Technology and Ms Mel Brokate in Home Economics very kindly made 16 stands and pouches for the marsupials to sleep in.
  • Animal Petting Station – As part of Founders’ Day activities we brought in the volunteers and selected animals from Mandurah Just Joey Marsupial Care to promote the charity. As part of this activity, some of the Barrett students and selected staff did make delicious and cute gingerbread kangaroo biscuits to sell.

Breast Cancer Care WA has provided specialist breast care nursing, counselling, and financial support to women and men affected by breast cancer, as well as their partners and families, throughout the WA community. They do not receive government funding and our services are provided free of charge.

Gordon House have chosen Breast Cancer Care WA to support their teachers and other members of the close school community who are currently fighting Breast Cancer.

This Year (2022) Gordon House will raise money and awareness through many exciting House events. The Gordon Senior Council will lead the House organising the following events; 5 Week Step Challenge, Gordon House Day Sausage Sizzle, Primary Event- Dress up as your favourite Super Hero Day and a Year 12 Movie Night held on the Performing Arts Centre.

For the past three years (2019, 2020, 2021) Jamieson House has supported the Peel Youth Medical Service (PYMS), located in the Peel Health Hub in Mandurah.

PYMS is a general practice that aims to promote wellness by improving the mental, social and physical health of young people who live in the Peel Region. PYMS provides confidential health services in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

Jamieson House recognises the valuable service offered by PYMS and the increased demand for these services. In order to support PYMS, Jamieson House organises various fundraising activities, such as the Jamieson House Day Sausage Sizzle, and also aims to raise awareness of the services provided, such as by distributing PYMS ‘showbags’ to students.

Rose House are proudly raising funds for zero2hero for 2022, we really enjoy supporting charities that help raise awareness and ways to overcome Mental Health issues. Fundraising will occur via a Rose House Day Luncheon, as well as several competitions.

We envision a world where every child and young person is educated and empowered to effectively deal with mental health issues, and mental illness is dealt with openly and treated as a normal part of everyday life.
zero2hero is a WA-based incorporated association with DGR status dedicated to increasing the understanding of mental health issues and the awareness of mental health services among children and young people through innovative programs, events, and education. Our events such as zero2hero day and Camp Hero equip school-aged children and teenagers with the skills to speak up when they are struggling and the confidence to stand up and support their friends when they may be experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, bullying, self-harm or suicidal thoughts.
