BARRETT
Barrett House decided that we always support ‘people’ as our chosen charity, so this year they would like to support a local community program that takes care of wildlife. Mandurah Just Joey Marsupial Care is a not for profit service that relies on public donations to pay for vet bills and feed for injured or abandoned marsupials.
Barrett House’s favourite fundraising activities:
- Waffle baskets and hash browns, and the flat bacon & egg waffles.
- Easter Raffle
- Making of stands and pouches – Geoff in Design and Technology and Ms Mel Brokate in Home Economics very kindly made 16 stands and pouches for the marsupials to sleep in.
- Animal Petting Station – As part of Founders’ Day activities we brought in the volunteers and selected animals from Mandurah Just Joey Marsupial Care to promote the charity. As part of this activity, some of the Barrett students and selected staff did make delicious and cute gingerbread kangaroo biscuits to sell.

JAMIESON
For the past three years (2019, 2020, 2021) Jamieson House has supported the Peel Youth Medical Service (PYMS), located in the Peel Health Hub in Mandurah.
PYMS is a general practice that aims to promote wellness by improving the mental, social and physical health of young people who live in the Peel Region. PYMS provides confidential health services in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
Jamieson House recognises the valuable service offered by PYMS and the increased demand for these services. In order to support PYMS, Jamieson House organises various fundraising activities, such as the Jamieson House Day Sausage Sizzle, and also aims to raise awareness of the services provided, such as by distributing PYMS ‘showbags’ to students.

zero2hero:
We envision a world where every child and young person is educated and empowered to effectively deal with mental health issues, and mental illness is dealt with openly and treated as a normal part of everyday life. zero2hero is a WA-based incorporated association with DGR status dedicated to increasing the understanding of mental health issues and the awareness of mental health services among children and young people through innovative programs, events, and education. Our events such as zero2hero day and Camp Hero equip school-aged children and teenagers with the skills to speak up when they are struggling and the confidence to stand up and support their friends when they may be experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, bullying, self-harm or suicidal thoughts.
