From the Principal (Issue 09)
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to Term 3! As usual our students seemed genuinely delighted to see one another and their teachers again after the break.
Unfortunately, but understandably, we have not, as yet, been able to implement Phase 5 (of the Western Australian Recovery Roadmap) and remain in Phase 4. For this reason the School will continue to practise the two (2) metre square physical distancing rule as far as possible; increased cleaning and hygiene measures also remain in place; and parents (with the exception of Kindergarten and Pre-Primary) are asked to utilise the Kiss and Drop facilities and remain in their vehicles at drop off and pick up times for the foreseeable future.
We also ask that you keep your children at home if they are unwell. Staff have been given the same message of not attending school if they are ill. These measures are in place to protect everyone in our community and I thank you for the fabulous job our students, parents and staff have done over the past six (6) months.
As a school, we continue to reflect on our 2020 theme of ‘Growth’. Our staff worked so hard to think ‘outside the square’ to be able to deliver engaging and effective education to our students both online and in class during a very difficult and different Semester 1; they have been innovative and forward-thinking. I shared this quote with them at the start of the term: Nothing limits achievement like small thinking; nothing expands possibilities like unleashed imagination. – William Arthur Ward. Thank you to our staff for their commitment to the education of our students.
Welcome to the following members of staff:
Mrs Joanne Charlesworth – Year 5 (Halls Head)
Ms Josephine Foo – Music (Meadow Springs – Primary)
Dr Graham McMahon – Digital Technologies (Secondary)
Welcome back to the following staff members who have been on various types of extended leave:
Mr Guy Burbage – English (Secondary) and Head of Jamieson House
Mrs Liz Coughlin – Mathematics (Secondary)
Mrs Jade Crichton – Japanese (Secondary)
Mrs Donna Thomas – Learning Enrichment (Secondary)
Congratulations to the following staff member who will be taking on added responsibilities for the rest of the year:
Mrs Claire Booker – Acting Assistant Head of Ellis House
I wish you all a wonderful Term 3. We can only hope that it is better than the past two. However, it is always important to remain positive. I have this written in the front of my diary as a reminder: It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine! Eeyore
