Student Congratulations, Issue 07 of the School Newsletter
Congratulations to the following students:
- Courtney Ross (Year 9) who recently won two Highly Commended awards (the only person to do so in the Masterpieces Art Exhbition) for the 13 – 15 Year Old Category and the Digital All Ages
Category. Courtney’s piece was of a KPOP Band called BTS, and took over 35 hours to complete.
- Alice Broadhead (Year 8) who was a band member of the Musical Production ‘Shrek’ at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, and attended all of the rehearsals and performances.
- Kiana Murphy (Year 8) who participated in the Mandurah Wearable Art Competition, creating a jigsaw puzzle dress which represents autism. Kiana’s designs are shining a light on autism to “let people know
every autistic child is different and they are not all the same”. The jigsaw dress, made form second-hand jigsaw pieces, took Kiana over five months to create.
- Phoebe Burke (Year 11) who has been selected to be a 2018 Yosemite Alcoa Scholar, participating in the highly competitive NatureBridge Alcoa Scholars Programme in August 2018. The Programme
includes fourteen days split between their Base Camp, Multi-Day Hikes and Area Conservation Research. Phoebe was chosen because of her demonstrated passion for the environment, her
experience in giving back to her communities, and her desire to learn more about herself and the world in a team setting.
