Message from the Principal – Issue 14
What a long, cold winter it has been! It is only now that the cold weather coughs and sneezes of both students and staff are starting to disappear. It has been really lovely to be out on the grounds the past few days and to feel the warmth of the sun on our backs. Students and staff at last have a spring (pun intended) in their steps!
Our Year 12 students have commenced their examinations, with the Year 11s hot on their heels next week, while our Year 8s to 10s have their end-of-year examinations in Week 6.
This is also a term where camps feature prominently! Our Year 5 students very much enjoyed their camp at Point Walter during Week 3, as did our year 10 Outdoor Education students in the South-West. Week 6 sees the Year 11 Outdoor Education students complete their school year with camps to the Blackwood River, Jurien Bay and Walpole.
20 Year Reunion
What a pleasure to welcome the Class of 1996 back to the School last Friday evening for our very first 20 Year Reunion! All seemed so pleased to see each other and many of their teachers. The tour around the School, which has changed considerably in the intervening years, was often punctuated with “Come on, you lot!” as they stopped to chatter and reminisce at every possible moment. A really lovely evening!
The School Prefects for 2017 were announced at the first assembly of the term. This is the second year in which we have integrated the School student leadership with House student leadership under a modified system that allows for more Year 12 responsibility. Our School Prefects Elect for 2017 are:
|Sasha Cransberg||Ellis||Ellis House Prefect|
|Olivia Dowding||Gordon||Sports Prefect|
|Karina Graham||Jamieson||Jamieson House Prefect|
|Sean Hill||Barrett||Chapel Prefect|
|Callum Leather||Barrett||Barrett House Prefect|
|Connor McCreary||Rose||Rose House Prefect|
|Jack Richardson||Ellis||Performing Arts Prefect|
|Madeline Sheehan||Gordon||Gordon House Prefect|
|Emily Smith||Arnold||Arnold House Prefect|
|Dean Storer||Rose||Head Prefect|
|Jayde Watts||Arnold||Primary Liaison Prefect|
|Marizaan Williams||Rose||Head Prefect|
Congratulations to these senior students. They will commence their training in Week 7 and I look forward to working with them.
Other Year 12 House Seniors (who, with their Head of House, House Prefect and School Prefects in each House, will form the House Councils), Year 11 House Assistants, Year 11 Peer Support Leaders and Year 6 House Captains will announced later in the term.
All student leaders will be introduced formally to the School early in Term 1 2016.
We hope you like the new-style newsletter this edition. Further innovations will follow next year.
