Chaplaincy

The Chaplain is responsible for leading the spiritual life of the School.

The role includes providing spiritual and pastoral support for members of the school community, involving students, staff and parents.

The Chaplain is available as a listening ear in the joys and tribulations of life, or for spiritual guidance and support when need arises within the community.

Our Chaplain, Father Noel Oakey, provides care for past and present students at Frederick Irwin Anglican School by supporting them during times of need providing a visible Christian presence in the Frederick Irwin Anglican School community.

School Chaplain

Father NoelThe School Chaplain, The Reverend Noel Oakey, is an ordained Anglican Priest, a trained school teacher and a full-time member of staff.

Father Noel has oversight of the Christian Studies curriculum in the School. Further to this the Chaplain’s role engages Father Noel in networking with outside agencies should the need arise.

He attends numerous camps throughout the year, mixing with staff and students in a non-classroom environment, and is responsible for our Overseas Service Learning programme.

This includes supporting and being involved with the Anglican School Commission’s Reach out Pilgrimages to Manila, and from 2016, leading a pilgrimage to Myanmar.

Father Noel’s other interests see him coordinate and coach Chess (Whole School) and Hockey (Secondary).
