Have Sum Fun Mathematics Competition – Secondary
We would like to introduce you to some of our School’s best mathematical problem solvers!
These groups of students below (as well as not pictured, Aston Summers, Keigan Williams and Michael Compton, made up the four teams that represented Frederick Irwin in the 2016 Have Sum Fun Mathematics Competitions, which were held at various locations and times across Perth last term.
The Have Sum Fun Competition is a round robin style quiz night, where teams of six students are set four rounds of challenging questions to complete in a set time period. All of the teams spent time preparing during their lunch breaks and their efforts on the night are to be commended.
Our Year 11/12 team finished in equal 8th place, the Year 7/8 teams finished equal 9th and equal 10th and the Year 9/10 team finished equal 14th.
Congratulations to all of the students who competed and to those students who were not chosen in the teams, but gave up their lunch times and acted as team reserves.
A special thank you also goes to Mrs Coughlan, Mr Eales, Mrs Gardham and Mrs Crock, for their support during the training sessions and on the night of the competitions.
